Kelsey Smith (she/they) is a librarian, freelance researcher/writer, artist, and community organizer. Kelsey is the director of Community Print, a 25-year-old community letterpress and print studio that provides instruction and access to modern and historic printing and publishing equipment. Kelsey worked for the Timberland Regional Library system for 15 years and started the zine collection at the Olympia Timberland Library. In 2015, she co-founded the annual Olympia Zine Fest with Sage Adderley. The festival continues to be an annual celebration of zines and independent publishing. Kelsey also volunteered at Northern | the Olympia All Ages Project. Kelsey formed Lefty Copywriting & Research Services LLC in 2022. She is honored to have collaborated on the first phase of the Olympia Indie Music History Project with Elaine Vradenburgh of Window Seat Media. She looks forward to future oral history and research work in collaboration with Mariella Luz and Markly Morrison with their new nonprofit, the Olympia Music History Project.
