Ed Varga is a musician, audio engineer, and community event organizer who moved to Olympia in 2000. Upon arrival, he was hired as the audio technician for the production of The Transfused. Later that year he served as the audio technician for the inaugural Ladyfest, and in the following year he did sound for the 2001 installment of Yoyo A Go Go. Before moving to Olympia, he had organized a concert series in Minneapolis, Homocore, which showcased queer and trans artists. Following his involvement in three Olympia festivals, he produced the first Homo A Go Go festival in 2002, featuring workshops, spoken word by Sara Seinberg, a drag show, and music performances from the likes of Team Dresch, Indigo Girls, Gossip, Nomy Lamm and Tracy and the Plastics. A second Homo a Go Go festival was held in Olympia in 2004, then in San Francisco in 2006 and 2009. Ed Varga currently works independently in music composition and sound design at Tone Generator Studios in Portland, OR, and writes songs under the moniker Eddie and the Heartbeats.
