Chris Pugh is a musician, photographer, and punk archivist. He grew up in the “greater Seattle area;” his family moved to Olympia in 1971 when his father was hired at the brand new Evergreen State College. After some time in Portland and Port Townsend, where his parents opened a record store, Chris graduated from high school and moved back to Olympia after a brief time in Seattle. He reconnected with Nathan, and they formed the band Pet Products with Tom Shoblom and Ian McKinnon. Pet Products broke up in 1982, and Chris joined Bradley Sweek, Scott Vanderpool, and Chris Gloekler to form The Young Pioneers, another beloved band that captured the spirit of Olympia’s early punk days. Chris and Nathan also played together in the band Guillotine, who opened for the Butthole Surfers at the fabulous Tropicana in 1984. Today, Chris lives in Seattle with his family, where he works as a photographer and plays in the band Spiders from Uranus. Chris continues to document punk culture through his work with As Many Weirdos as Possible, a collaborative documentary photography project celebrating the musical legacy of the Pacific Northwest and spotlighting Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, and beyond. After nearly 45 years, Pet Products has a new orchid vinyl album out on Kill Rock Stars- get yours today!
