Jason Traeger is a multidisciplinary artist who was active in the 1980s Seattle punk scene in his early teens, when he began designing flyers, album art and graphics for numerous punk bands on the West Coast. At that time, his family was hospitable toward musicians, often letting touring bands crash at their place. For a brief time he lived in San Diego, then he visited Olympia during the International Pop Underground Conference in 1991 and decided to make it his home. In the years since, he has been on staff at Alternative Tentacles Records, did a stint as a stand-up comedian, and has released music under his own name on Olympia labels Atlas, K, and Kill Rock Stars. He is best known for his work as a visual artist, designing album artwork for 7 Seconds, Survival Knife, Ill Repute, and Sleater-Kinney. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon, where he works on paintings and interviews indie musicians for his TraegerMethod podcast.
